Welcome to Mt Zion Baptist Church

Worship Service is a joyful spirtual occasion.

Worship service at Mt. Zion perhaps can best be characterized as one that has evolved into the right mixture of a tradition and contemporary style. The church's motto "A church where no stranger needs to feel strange" rings true in the worship service. The worshiper who responds by sitting quietly, or one who responds by the waving of a hand,or the shedding of a tear is just as comfortable as one who responds more jubilantly with an audible a-men, or one who rises to his or her feet. A typical worship service at Mt. Zion is one and a half hours in duration.

  • Praise the Lord
  • The Meek Shall Inherit the Earth
  • All Blessings Flow

Meet Our Pastor

Rev. Larry E. Lewis is a native of Louisa County. He attended the Louisa County Public Schools and graduated from the former Archie G. Gibbs Richardson High School in June 1966

He holds both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree in Agricultural Education from Virginia State University, Petersburg, Virginia. He received the Educational Administration and Supervision endorsement from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville and Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond. He also received an endorsement in Vocational Education Administration from Virginia Tech, Blacksburg and Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond. Further, he is a 2007 graduate of the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology, Virginia Union University, Richmond, with a Master of Divinity degree.

Rev. Lewis comes to us from the First Baptist Church, Louisa where he served as an Associate Minister. He has served that church as deacon, Primary, Middle and Adult Sunday school teacher, and president of several auxiliaries. While serving as an Associate Minister, he developed a Diaconate Training Guide and used it to train Deacons in that setting. He has shared the training guide with other churches in the area to assist them with providing Biblical training for their deacons. More Information...

Mission, Vision and Purpose

The mission of Mt. Zion Baptist Church is to continually embrace the Bible as the supreme Word of God, to make disciples, to honor the Church Covenant, and to strive to meet the crucial needs of people while exemplifying love in action.

Our Vision is to create an environment for all generations and ethnic groups who enter and confess their desire to become part of the Body of Christ and will be regenerated, transformed, and sanctified by the Word of God through Evangelism, Discipleship, and Christian Education.

Our purpose is to provide a safe haven where individuals can come and have their spiritual, psychological, and emotional needs met as they develop a relationship with God.
